Composing instructions for the Nokia 7650

The Nokia 7650's Composer works in a different way to most other Nokia's.

Composing a tune:
At the Start screen, press the Menu key then scroll up to Extras and press Select. Now scroll to Composer and press Select.

Select Options > New tone to open the editor and to start composing.

• Use the keys to add notes and rests (see above)
  Or select Options > Insert symbol top open a list of notes and rests.
• To listen to the tone, press the joystick or select Options > Play. To stop playing press stop.
• To adjust the volume while a tone is playing, move the joystick to the right to increase and to the left to decrease it, or press Options > Volume before you start to play the tone.
• To adjust the tempo select Options > Tempo and move the joystick to the left or right.
• To apply different playing style s select Options > Style and then either Legato for smooth notes or Staccato for short, sharp notes.
• To move a note up or down the staff by a half step, scroll to the note and move the joystick up or down.
• To select many notes and/or rests at the same time, press and hold the abc key and move the joystick to the left or right at the same time.

Because the 7650 works in a slightly different way it is not possible to copy the codes directly from this web site to create a tune. However, it is still possible to create a ring tone as long as you make the following adjustments when copying the codes:

• When you see a * in the code you must select the note just entered (see above) and press # to move up an octave.
• When you see a # in the code you should select the note and move the joystick up once.

If you remember this then it will be possible to hear the tune as it should be. If it helps, keep this window open when inputting a tune.
